Meet coach Jade Bucklow
Jade is a born and bread long distance runner. Her passion for running all began in the early high school days, competing against the boys instead of girls to push herself harder. This passion grew over the years into a lifestyle of active outdoors-ness.
The 21km and 42km races were the steppingstone to the distances Jade has come to love, successfully completing numerous Comrades and Two Oceans runs before turning her focus to the trails. Jade now specialises in trail running focused training, including dedicated speed work and intense vertical gain running. It’s more about the vertical distance than the horizontal, you know. As a new mom, and fully back into her running,
Jade is now obsessed with being part of a social group to help others get into the gloriousness of running. With years of experience and knowledge of running, Jade brings the added first-hand experience of doing it as a mom. Combining with EMBARK, Jade and the team are ready to get the moms and dads of the South Peninsula started in running and onto becoming confident and fit sports stars!

It is very frustrating when join a training program and set yourself a goal and then a few weeks in it you get injured. Generally this happens if you have been doing too much too soon or you haven’t been focusing on your recovery between sessions. “Don’t let a niggle become an injury”. Listen to your body and stick to a training program prescribed by your coach. If you feel any pain or niggles during a session back off from the training and see if it settles. It’s generally your body telling you are over doing it. Sports Massages are great for recovery when you have done a tough session and your legs feel fatigued and sore. They promote healing, improve circulation in them and reduce muscle soreness.
