Embark Triathlon Orientation Evening: 8th October
Thinking about doing a triathlon, a 70.3 or even a full IRONMAN?
Come along to our Embark Orientation Evening on Thursday, 8 October, and let’s talk about what it takes to turn that thought into a start-line reality.
You don’t need to have entered a race or worked out how to fit all the training into your diary. Curiosity is a perfectly good starting point.
Big goals start with a conversation
Triathlon can seem a little overwhelming from the outside. There’s swimming, cycling and running to think about, equipment to figure out, and a whole new vocabulary. Bricks, transitions, tapering… and apparently you’re supposed to remember where you left your bike.
At our Orientation Evening, we’ll help you make sense of it all. We’ll chat through the season ahead, explain what the training journey involves and answer the questions that might be holding you back.
Whether you’re considering your first local Cape Town triathlon, preparing for a 70.3 in Mossel Bay or Nelson Mandela Bay, or dreaming of the full IRONMAN South Africa in Mossel Bay, we’ll help you understand the next steps.

What will we chat about?
We’ll cover the practical side of preparing for a race, including:
-
Choosing your goal: Finding a race and distance that suit your experience, ambitions and available training time.
-
Understanding the training: What goes into preparing for a triathlon, a 70.3 or a full IRONMAN.
-
Making it fit: Building a training routine around work, family and everyday life.
-
Getting started: Making sense of equipment, swimming confidence and those first few weeks.
-
Training with Embark: How coached group sessions and personalised programmes can support your progress.
-
Preparing to race: Building the skills and confidence to arrive at the start line ready for the day ahead.
And, of course, there’ll be time for your questions. Yes, even the one you think everyone else already knows the answer to. Chances are someone else in the room is wondering exactly the same thing.
Meet your coach—and your future training buddies
You’ll get the chance to meet Steve Attwell, our IRONMAN Certified Coach and five-time IRONMAN finisher, and hear about the journey from someone who has experienced it himself and helped others work towards their goals.
Bring your ambitions, your uncertainties and your “but what if…” questions. Whether you’re worried about the swim, unsure how much training you can manage, or wondering if you’re ready to take the next step, let’s chat.
You’ll also meet other people considering the same races. That first conversation could be the beginning of a shared training journey—and a few good friendships along the way.

Train together. Grow in confidence. Enjoy the journey.
At Embark, we welcome beginners and experienced athletes, with coached group training and personalised programmes to help you progress.
We believe training should be focused, fun and social. The goal matters, but so do the people you meet, the confidence you build and the satisfaction of doing something that once felt out of reach.
There will be early alarms and challenging sessions. There will also be laughs, encouragement and teammates who understand why you’re so excited about swimming a little further or running a little stronger.
You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
